When you book a trail, we collect:

• Your first name
• Your email address
• Payment information (processed securely by Stripe — we do not store card details)
• Your trail selection, team size, and language preference

When you play a trail, we may collect:

• Your answers and responses within the game
• Basic usage data (which stages you've completed, timestamps)

We do not collect unnecessary personal data and we do not use tracking cookies or behavioural advertising.

3. Why We Use Your Data

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

• To fulfil your booking — sending your gamecode and managing your purchase (legal basis: contract performance)
• To run the game — delivering the trail experience you've purchased (legal basis: contract performance)
• To respond to enquiries — if you contact us by email (legal basis: legitimate interests)
• To comply with legal obligations — including financial record-keeping (legal basis: legal obligation)

4. Who We Share Your Data With

We share your data only where necessary:

• Stripe — our payment processor. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Email delivery providers — to send your gamecode confirmation.

We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.

5. How Long We Keep Your Data

We retain booking and transaction records for 7 years in line with HMRC requirements. Game session data is retained for 30 days after your trail completes, then deleted. We will delete your data sooner on request, except where we are required to retain it by law.

6. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention obligations)
• Object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Receive your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

7. Cookies

Our marketing site uses no tracking or advertising cookies. The game platform (play.sidewalks.co.uk) uses only strictly necessary session cookies to maintain your game state.

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss or disclosure. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe and we do not store payment card details.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Continued use of our services after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

If you are unhappy with how we've handled your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK's data protection authority, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
